Spring 2022 Post 2
Along with the obvious physical implications for people who contract Covid-19 this pandemic is having a devastating mental health impact on people all over the world. The grief among those who have lost loved ones, the unease at losing a job and economic security, the frustration of lockdowns, the challenges of working from home while taking care of kids along with the fear of contracting the disease have all taken their toll on mental health.
Unfortunately, however, as the study itself points out, “During the Covid19 pandemic, there has been a well-documented deterioration in psychological wellbeing and increased social isolation.” This means that we’re not only caught in the throes of a global pandemic — caused by a constantly-mutating deadly virus — but we’re finding ourselves more prone to not just the infection, but also unquantifiable mental distress.
