 In April, Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman announced $21 million in funding for more counselors and social workers in public schools. The state has the highest student-to-counselor ratio in the nation at 848-to-1. The American School Counselor Association recommends a ratio of 250-to-1.

In read this statement backwards at first "The state has the highest student-to-counselor ratio in the nation at 848-to-1," I was thinking that this meant that the highest ratio was good but it means that we lack the appropriate student to counselor ratio when it comes to adequately addressing students needs when it comes to mental health. This is just our public school data and differs more so with charter and title 15 schools.
